Biological damage

In the intestine, sugar causes gas production, abdominal tension, alteration of the microbiota (bacterial flora), colitis, constipation, diarrhea. Sugar also acts on the nervous system and metabolism, giving both stimulation peaks and subsequent vertiginous relapses with alternating states of irritability / euphoria and a continuous need to assimilate other quantities of sugar.

All this creates that typical form of addiction generated by the spike in blood sugar caused by the
very fast absorption of sugar; the high glycemic levels lead the pancreas to introduce insulin into the blood thus favoring the so-called "hypoglycemic crisis". This in turn triggers the circulation, among others, of hormones capable of raising blood sugar, including adrenaline, the hormone of aggression and defense and this explains why the hypoglycemic crisis also creates irritability, aggression, weakness and eventually the need to eat more.
